CANTONESE BREAKFAST

Small-batch Cantonese breakfast granola. Traditional ingredients rarely found anywhere else.

Why UMAMI GRANOLA Exists

In Cantonese, there's a saying — 七七八八 (chat chat baat baat). Literally "seven seven eight eight." Something incomplete, never finished, never fully committed. Could be 70%, could be 80% — the point is, never 100%. Never all in.

Growing up first-generation Cantonese American meant feeling 七七八八 constantly. Neither fully American nor fully Chinese. Always between two worlds.

That same feeling showed up when reaching for granola. Missing the umami depth, the savory complexity, the sophisticated sweetness we knew from dim sum (點心) and tong sui (糖水).

UMAMI GRANOLA exists because we wanted granola that honored these flavors. No more 七七八八. This time, all in.

Why Representation Matters

Representation means seeing your culture reflected accurately. When traditional Cantonese flavors exist in mainstream products, it validates that our food traditions matter beyond trend cycles. It means not having to explain or justify the complexity you grew up with.

Cantonese fluency provides access — the ability to source traditional Cantonese ingredients by speaking the language of suppliers who understand their cultural context. This access, this culinary knowledge, this expertise is what UMAMI GRANOLA is built on.

UMAMI GRANOLA brings Cantonese breakfast traditions into granola. Savory umami through fermented black soybeans and hoisin sauce. Floral sweetness through goji berries and longan.

What We Stand For

Traditional Cantonese food culture understands complete palate engagement. Morning dim sum brings savory umami depth through fermented black soybeans and hoisin sauce. Tong sui carries sophisticated floral sweetness through goji berries and longan. Balance creates lasting satisfaction.

UMAMI GRANOLA honors traditional Cantonese culinary philosophy in granola. Layered complexity that creates depth worth savoring. Cultural knowledge translated into Cantonese breakfast granola.

2
Why Cantonese?

Cantonese culinary tradition is specific, not broadly Asian, not broadly Chinese. The fermented depth of dim sum, the floral sweetness of tong sui, the ingredient knowledge passed through generations of Cantonese family kitchens. UMAMI GRANOLA was founded by a first-generation Cantonese American. This is not borrowed inspiration. This is the tradition. Read our philosophy.

3
Is this granola sweet or savory?

Both, by design. Dragon-Eyed Wolf, tong sui granola, is floral sweetness. Dau-Si-Do, dim sum granola, is savory umami. The Signature Duo carries both.

4
What does the Dragon-Eyed Wolf blend taste like?

Dragon-Eyed Wolf, tong sui granola, opens with the gentle tartness of goji berries, deepens into the caramel-like complexity of longan, and settles into the richness of condensed milk. Floral sweetness that layers and evolves.

5
What does the Dau-Si-Do blend taste like?

Dau-Si-Do, dim sum granola, opens with the earthy depth of fermented black soybeans and hoisin, savory, complex, deeply satisfying. Fresh ginger lifts it with aromatic warmth. The fifth taste, the one that makes breakfast feel complete.
