UMAMI GRANOLA Launches the First Cantonese Breakfast Granola for AAPI Heritage Month

Two small-batch blends drawn from Cantonese dim sum and tong sui culinary traditions

NEW YORK, NY — May 1, 2026UMAMI GRANOLA, the first Cantonese breakfast granola, launches today during AAPI Heritage Month with two small-batch blends drawn from Cantonese culinary tradition.

The launch arrives during a measurable shift in the U.S. food landscape. The U.S. umami flavors market is projected to reach $1.319 billion by 2030 with a 7.2% CAGR, according to Grand View Research, while savory breakfast menu listings have grown 18.5% year over year. Asian and ethnic food categories are growing nearly four times faster than overall grocery, according to Circana's 2025–2026 Food & Beverage Outlook. UMAMI GRANOLA enters the granola category with both savory umami and floral sweetness positioning, drawn from Cantonese dim sum and tong sui culinary tradition, alongside the honey, maple syrup, and cinnamon ingredients that have defined the granola category.

Dau-Si-Do is a savory umami granola made with fermented black soybeans (豆豉, dau-si), hoisin (海鮮醬), and fresh ginger (薑). The blend honors the Cantonese morning ritual of dim sum (點心), where fermented black soybeans carry complex earthy depth foundational to Cantonese cooking.

Dragon-Eyed Wolf is a floral sweetness granola made with goji berries (杞子), longan (龍眼), and condensed milk (煉奶). The blend honors the Cantonese sweet soup tradition of tong sui (糖水), where these ingredients carry traditional Cantonese sweetness.

"Cantonese culinary tradition is specific. Not broadly Asian, not broadly Chinese. The savory depth of dim sum and the floral sweetness of tong sui were the flavors I grew up recognizing, and they have never had a place in the granola category until now," said Cindy 芝, Founder of UMAMI GRANOLA.

UMAMI GRANOLA is small-batch, AAPI-founded, and woman-owned. The brand operates DTC from Brooklyn with two SKUs at $16 per 8oz pouch and a Signature Duo (one of each blend) at $32.
